Editorial policy

What we list, how we check it, and how we write our guides.

Who can list

Rainbow-owned businesses, and businesses that welcome rainbow customers and staff.
Community groups and support services for rainbow, takatāpui and MVPFAFF+ people.
They must operate in New Zealand and have a working website or public contact details.

What we never list

Anyone offering conversion practices, which are illegal in New Zealand.
Adult services, gambling, loans, crypto, or businesses based overseas.
Listings that are misleading, copied from another business, or spam.

How listings are checked

Each new listing is checked by our listing agent against this policy: that the business is real, based in New Zealand, matches its website, and fits a category. Listings that don't pass are declined; anything unclear is held for review. We recheck websites regularly and remove listings that stop working.

Our guides

Guides are researched from official and community sources, linked at the end of each guide, and dated. If something is out of date or wrong, tell us at support@rainbowdirectory.co.nz and we will fix it.

Paid listings

Paying for a plan never changes whether a listing passes our checks. Paid listings are labelled.
